None of us had seen Lake Michigan before, so we made a quick stop before heading further west. The beach was windy, cold, and deserted but the dunes rising over the trees at Warren Dunes State Park were incredible. We skirted Chicago Friday evening and spent the weekend in Madison with family, doing family things. On the return trip, we headed into the heart of Chicago for a whirlwind tour of a few well-known spots.
We had two nights at home to rearrange our luggage before heading out for the Crozet Arts & Crafts Festival. This was our second time at the weekend-long festival. Saturday was rainy and breezy, but Sunday was gloriously sunny and warm, the perfect day for an art show plus local food, beer, wine, and music.
