We've been excited for the 2015 UCI Road World Championships to arrive in Richmond since we first learned about the race four years ago. This spring, it began to feel like it was really happening when we participated in the Go Bike! community art project. Then we decided to take part in the LOCAL shops hosted by Viva La Local at the heart of the race. We spent the end of the summer in a flurry of preparations for the shop and our other early fall shows. Now at last the races are here!
We got a chance to check out the Men's Junior Time Trial event as it crossed the James River in both directions. Such an exciting experience! The speed and power of these athletes is incredible. The crowds were sparse on this gray day, but their enthusiasm was contagious.
The LOCAL shop features the work of 37 local makers. It's open all week through Sunday 9/27 at both 318 W. Broad Street AND the FanFest in the Convention Center. Check out this awesome international event, and stop by the LOCAL shop for goods by your favorite local makers!
