ICFF 2016 in NYC

Last month Kyle traveled to NYC with friend and fellow furniture maker David Bohnhoff of Bohnhoff Woodworking to check out the 2016 International Contemporary Furniture Fair. They had a great time geeking out on furniture and chatting up the other furniture makers. Take a peek of some of their favorite finds from the show!

The Furniture Society put together a great booth showcasing a few different makers. We were particularly taken with the work of Libby Schrum Design, including her Rolig Rocker above.

There are a lot more details to consider when making a chair than a table or piece of cabinetry, such as the joinery, the height of the seat, and the angle of the back. Here are two we admired from Suite NY (left) and Paulo Alves Design (middle & right).

How about the gypsum veneer on this cabinet from Jallu Ebenistes? This company also creates veneers in other unusual materials like straw marquetry, mica, and parchment.

We saw quite a few credenzas at the show. Two we thought especially interesting were this mosaic-front piece by Mode Mosaic & Design (left & middle), and the live edge walnut piece by Uhuru Design (right).

And of course we saw lots of fun and novel items like this giant tree slab, clear pool table, giant desk lamp, and giant clothes pin (left to right). All in all, a great time! Keep an eye out and you just might see us in our own booth at a future ICFF event.
